About Northern Boiler Grants
Northern Boiler Grants helps households across Berwick-upon-Tweed to York, coast to coast replace old, inefficient boilers through government-backed grant funding. We are a local team with deep roots in the North East, and we exist to make warm, affordable homes accessible to the people who need them most.
Who we are
We are a North East-based heating and energy-efficiency company specialising in grant-funded boiler replacements. Our office sits on Newcastle's historic Quayside, but our work takes us right across the region — from the border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north to the city of York in the south, and from the Cumbrian coast across the Pennines to the North Sea. Over the years we have helped families, pensioners and private tenants swap tired old boilers for efficient modern systems, often at no cost to them.
What we do
Our role is to make the grant process simple and trustworthy. We assess your eligibility honestly, arrange a free survey, confirm your boiler type, and — where funding is approved — install a new A-rated condensing boiler using Gas Safe registered engineers. We handle the paperwork and the funding side so you do not have to. If you are not eligible, we will tell you plainly rather than waste your time.
Why trust us
Choosing who to let into your home matters. Here is what underpins our work:
- Qualified engineers. All gas installations are carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers; oil work is carried out by OFTEC-registered engineers.
- Local knowledge. We know the housing stock of the North East — the Tyneside flats, the pit-village terraces, the stone cottages — and the boiler types common to each.
- Clear, honest advice. No pressure and no jargon. We explain your options, including when replacement is not the right call.
- Proper aftercare. Every installation comes with a manufacturer's warranty and guidance on getting the best from your new system.
- Fully insured. We carry appropriate public liability insurance and follow all relevant safety and data-protection rules.
Our experience on the ground
Years of working in the region's homes have taught us that no two installations are quite the same. A back boiler in a 1960s Sunderland terrace presents different challenges from a floor-standing oil boiler in a rural Northumberland farmhouse or an early combi in a Harrogate semi. That hands-on experience matters: it means we can spot at a glance what kind of system a home is running, anticipate the quirks of older pipework, and plan a replacement that causes the least possible disruption. We have seen how much difference a warm, efficient home makes to an elderly resident facing a hard winter, and that is what keeps the work meaningful for us.
How we work with you
From your first enquiry to the day your new boiler is fired up, we aim to keep things straightforward and pressure-free. After a quick eligibility check, a qualified surveyor visits to confirm your boiler type and assess the system. If grant funding is approved, we agree a convenient installation date, our engineers carry out the work to current standards, and we make sure you understand how to use your new controls before we leave. We then register the warranty and the Gas Safe or OFTEC paperwork on your behalf. Throughout, you deal with a local team you can actually reach, not a faceless call centre hundreds of miles away.
Our commitment
Cold homes harm health and household budgets alike, and the North East has some of the country's oldest housing and highest fuel-poverty rates. We believe that efficient heating should not be a luxury. By connecting eligible households with the funding that already exists, we help cut bills, reduce carbon emissions and keep people warm through the long northern winters. That mission guides every survey we carry out and every boiler we fit.
